Isaacus is proud to announce that we’re partnering with Legal Oracle, a new Australian legal research platform, to deliver accurate, comprehensive answers to complex legal questions using our state-of-the-art legal foundation models.
Founded by Hamish Cameron, former Chief Information Officer at South Australia Police, Legal Oracle is building an end-to-end legal research platform that places cutting-edge generative AI, information extraction and information retrieval models in front of a massive, growing database of Australian legislation in order to answer highly complex, jurisdiction-specific legal questions that its rivals can’t.
Isaacus, the first and only foundational legal AI research company, will be joining Legal Oracle on its mission to elevate the quality of legal research in Australia by granting it access to Isaacus’ newly released Kanon family of foundation models for the legal domain.
Legal Oracle has recently completed a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation of Isaacus’ reranking API, which uses AI to score and sort legal documents and clauses by their relevance to users’ questions, and has found it to consistently outperform Cohere Rerank in terms of its understanding of legal concepts, relationships and topology.
After extensive testing across multiple legal queries, I can clearly state that Isaacus consistently outperforms the fine-tuned Cohere model for legal document reranking.
Isaacus demonstrates a deeper understanding of legal concepts, hierarchies, and relationships between different types of legislation. Its confidence scoring provides clearer signals about relevance, and it shows superior performance for specialised legal domains. The most compelling evidence is how it leverages enhanced context to produce rankings that better align with legal research best practices.Hamish Cameron, Legal Oracle
As a result of Isaacus’ outstanding performance in this evaluation, Legal Oracle has since swapped Cohere Rerank for Isaacus’ reranking API.
Over the coming months, we will be deepening our partnership with Legal Oracle by integrating our forthcoming information extraction and document embedding models into its platform, which we expect will only further improve the accuracy, precision and relevance of Legal Oracle’s AI-powered answers.
We also anticipate that Legal Oracle and Isaacus will begin to collaborate closer more generally, with Legal Oracle contributing highly valuable end-user insights that feed into Isaacus’ technologies, and Isaacus leveraging its deep technical expertise to optimize every aspect of Legal Oracle’s value chain.
